Selling your jewelry with the right to buy back (Pawning/Pawning)

Do you need money in the short term, but don't want to say goodbye to your jewelry permanently? At Goldberg Juweliers we have been offering the possibility to sell your jewelry with the right to buy back for over 30 years. This concept has been around for a long time, even before the more well-known pawn shop chains became popular in the Netherlands, and is a reliable way to temporarily borrow money against your valuable possessions.

By pawning, you can borrow money quickly, safely and discreetly without the obligation to sell your jewelry definitively. In accordance with the legislation of 2014 and the guidelines of the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM), we charge an interest rate of 4.5% per month without additional costs for valuation or administration. This means that with a loan of €50,- you only pay back €52.25 after one month (the borrowed €50,- and €2.25 interest).

Terms and FAQs

• Pawning from the age of 18 - Proof of identity required
  You must be at least 18 years old to pledge and show valid ID.

• Do I need to make a special appointment for pawning?
  No, in principle you do not need to make an appointment to pawn jewelry. You can simply walk in, unless it concerns large sums of money that need to be reserved.

• What is the loan period?
  The standard term for a loan with us is 2 months. If you want to pick up your pawned jewelry earlier, for example within the first month, then of course you only pay the interest for that period.

• Can I extend the loan period?
  Yes, that is possible. You can extend the loan period by coming by before the expiry of the term and paying the interest of the expired period. After payment, the loan period will be extended again by 2 months.

• What are the costs/interest?
  We charge an interest rate of 4.5% per month, in accordance with the new legislation for pawnshops. No additional costs are charged for administration or valuation.

• What is the minimum loan amount?
  The minimum loan amount is €50,-. We try to keep this amount as low as possible, as long as it is financially feasible and customers are helped with it.

• Can I get a loan amount by phone or email?
  No, we only appraise goods in our shop. It is necessary to have your jewellery appraised on site.

• Can I know something about a contract?
  Yes, you can call, but make sure you have the contract details at hand. We do not search for details by name to ensure the privacy of our customers.

• What is the maximum amount I will receive when I pawn something?
  This depends on several factors, such as the value of the jewelry, the material and the condition. In general, the maximum amount for pawning is lower than for selling an item, because the value for the loan is based on a percentage of the appraisal value.

What can you pawn with us?

What cannot you pawn with us?

• Stolen goods; all purchases are recorded and serial numbers checked.

• Jewelry made of copper, steel or other (base) metals, gold plated or not, regardless of the brand.

• All types of watches that are not made of gold, silver or platinum. This includes:

  • Fashion watches from brands such as Diesel, Armani, Michael Kors, Pulsar, Timex, Skagen, Esprit, Fossil, etc.

  • Mid-range watches such as Tissot, Seiko, Citizen, Certina, etc.

  • Luxury watches from brands such as Rolex, Cartier, Breitling, Hublot, etc., which are not made of gold or silver.

• Gold plated lighters, for example from Dupont.

• Loose gemstones.

Privacy

Your privacy is of the utmost importance to us. We do not share your personal data with third parties, except when required to do so by law. All data is stored locally and is only accessible to authorized authorities, such as the police, in connection with the fight against receiving stolen goods. For questions regarding specific contracts or purchases, we can only provide information to the persons concerned, provided that they can identify themselves.
